The footer is a standard page because we are already prepared for the 2019 and 2020 stages of Gutenberg which will introduce "site components". Your footer is future-proof thanks to the method we use.

You can assign any page to be your footer in Theme Settings → Footer page.

You can have any layout, including with columns and any blocks, as your footer.

For the demo we prepared one footer configuration with several variations.

At this point footer consists of custom HTML blocks which we believe are the most convenient to edit in this case.

To make your footer left aligned add body--site-footer-left in Theme Settings → Body classes.

To make your footer black add body--site-footer-dark-mobile and body--site-footer-dark-desktop in Theme Settings → Body classes.

Any ikon/row block at the end of the footer page will be moved outside of the main footer container and no styles will be applied to it to allow you to set any arbitrary styles.

The left aligned desktop footer uses a special CSS class called wp-block-columns--70-30 which you can add to the columns block to create the menu and the social icons.

Examples of possible footer configurations.
